i wanted to start this thread in order to get approval from the FSA Board to approve these brackets in order to be legal in upcoming events. i have sold these brackets to a few bike owners that have installed them and are going to be competing in the upcoming season.
i want everyones opinion weither you are for them or against it.
these brackets were legal in prior FSCS seasons ran by Jeff Kyle, and myself.

thanks you!

I too run them.... I understand how it kind of fits in the rules...

You can remove but you cant replace tubing........

From the rules........

• Definition of OEM Chassis
• Original Chassis with the following modifications only:
* Removal of cable hangers and other brackets not used.
* No geometry changes.
* No tube replacement.
* Smoothing of welds for cosmetic purposes only.

I see how it fits in the rules but I for one didn't replace any tubing. I can see how this effects some people that would like to remove pieces of there frame to replace them with chromoly or TI....

But all that was removed was the front bumper brackets to clean the appearance of the bike and for very little weight removal......

With replacing them it just means I add a little weight back if any............

But it comes down to the racers...... what do you say?

I have talked to Tom about this and mentioned doing a poll and he was ok with it........ Rene beat me to it....

Question is....... does removing the front bumper brackets and replacing them with Bumper Eliminators be illegal? I know I can run with out them. But I would like to have the frame braced together for safety reasons..... Had I known that it would effect my bike I would not of removed them.

id like to add that if you vote against them please post your reason why you think is should not be legal. otherwise there will alot of people that will just vote against it and the whole poll is gone the drain.
thanks!

not a tube replacement

and i think it looks cleaner than having the bumper mounts on there with no bumper.

Here is a photo of the tubes that are being discussed. Regardless of what you might think, it is considered tube replacement. You are cutting off the tubes which brace the front of the frame and replacing them with a plate that does the same. This was not considered legal with FSCS, but certain bikes were approved after the fact. Tube replacement is an illegal modification with FSA.

that was kind of my idea minus the holes, this way you could mount your number plate there.

Any Class/rule changes will be announced Aug 1st.

I like the looks with the plates, but I do not see this rule being changed

i understand why you guys want it but i think it would open a can of worms for others wanting to change braces for looks

That is exactly my point. Someone would say "you allowed the Honda's to do it, why can't we change this one little item". After a while of allowing MINOR changes, it is no longer a OEM frame and the rule means nothing.

you did mention there were several bikes that were approved after the fact.

well fact is it is now FSA and if they are not allowed no one should run them
if they were allowed then..... well that was then and now is now.... if it is going to be a rule
every body should follow the rule even if its after the fact.......and thats a fact

Yes it would.

The background of the plate would need to be solid and either black or white to accomodate the class you are running in.
Remember 2009 Duners will be a featured class.
